Phoenix Mall sets itself apart by opening and connecting the new Phoenix Mall Station directly to the mall.
This one-of-a-kind ‘’Transit Oriented Development’’ (TOD), which favours the development of vibrant, comfortable, and sustainable communities, has been achieved by Ascencia, the retail property company of the Rogers Group. Construction works over the last year at Phoenix Mall culminated at the beginning of the month with the integration of the Phoenix Mall Station.
The Honourable Alan Ganoo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade; Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail was the guest of honour of this official ceremony. The team of MEL (Metro Express Limited), represented by its CEO Dr Das Mootanah, Larsen & Toubro team, Philippe Espitalier-Noël (CEO of Rogers and Chairman of Ascencia), Hector Espitalier-Noël (CEO of ENL and Director of Ascencia), and Ascencia's team represented by its CEO Frederic Tyack attended the official launch of the integration of Phoenix Mall Station to the mall on Monday 21st of November 2022.
This project of MUR 440M is an investment in Mauritian infrastructure. It supports the country’s economic interests, promotes greener mobility for its citizens, and will ultimately enhance the quality of life of wider communities for many years to come.
Together with Metro Express Limited, Ascencia is also positioning itself to create opportunities for small and medium enterprises. This new extension at Phoenix Mall now welcomes 33 tenants, mostly local entrepreneurs, in line with Ascencia’s B’Local initiative.
This agreement between Metro Express Limited (MEL) and Ascencia is an excellent example of public/private sector collaboration in the best interest of the tenants and shoppers of Phoenix Mall and local residents.
The new face of Phoenix Mall comprises the following:
1. Phoenix Mall Station (the metro station)
2. An additional bus station
3. A “Park & Ride” facility
4. A covered food court within the mall with an additional seating area of about 100
5. The new extension of Phoenix Mall comprises 33 tenants over a surface area of 1000 sqm.
