In 1988, a printed bulletin titled Ensemble — French for "together" — was created by Compagnie Sucrière de Bel Ombre (now Agrïa, one of Rogers’ subsidiaries) to keep employees informed and connected. It served as a practical communication tool that fostered a strong sense of community among workers.
In May 2025, Rogers Group revived this tradition with a renewed vision and a new name: ANSAM, Creole for "together." This change goes beyond language — it reflects a deeper purpose and a broader mandate: to serve the entire Bel Ombre community in a way that is authentic, deeply Mauritian, and rooted in collective intelligence and shared purpose. What began as an employee newsletter has become an annual newspaper — a collaborative platform designed to inform, connect, value, and engage.
ANSAM amplifies local voices, fosters dialogue, and shares updates on community initiatives as well as Rogers’ business developments in the region. Driven by the belief that communities grow through the stories they share, the relaunch gives voice to Bel Ombre’s evolving narrative — honouring the past and shaping the future. These goals align with Rogers’ vision of cultivating a sustainable art de vivre in the southwest of Mauritius.
It has been distributed to over 2,000 households in Bel Ombre, Choisy, Rivière des Galets, St Martin, and Baie du Cap, and reaches more than 1,500 employees across Rogers Group’s business units in Bel Ombre, along with its partners and stakeholders.
Inclusive and accessible to all
In keeping with its mission to connect and engage, ANSAM is available in multiple formats to ensure broad accessibility:
• A print edition delivered directly to households and across the business units of Rogers Group
• An interactive digital flipbook available online
• An audio version is also available for easier access by all
• Video content highlighting key stories through visual storytelling
Structured storytelling, rooted in place
Organised around five editorial pillars, Rankont (Meet), Profonder (Deep Dive), Dekouvert (Discover), Respire (Breathe), and Perspektiv (Perspective), each reflects the philosophy of Bel Ombre: Lamer. Later. Lavi (Sea, Land and Life).
This structure guarantees balanced coverage of human stories, environmental stewardship and business evolution.
Designed to engage, built to reflect
ANSAM combines bold design, expressive typography, and immersive visuals to deliver an engaging reading experience. But its greatest strength lies in the diversity of voices it brings forward.
Future editions will continue to open the platform to new contributors, highlight local talent, and foster participation across generations.
ANSAM thus stands as a strategic communications instrument, strengthening the territory’s sense of belonging while charting Bel Ombre’s progress toward Rogers’ long-term vision of making it the reference in a tropical sustainable art de vivre.
