Recognised in the categories of Hospitality and Tourism, Transportation and Logistics, and Construction and Real Estate, Rogers' subsidiaries – namely Rogers Hospitality, Velogic, and Ascencia – proudly showcased the Group's achievements at the inaugural PwC Sustainability Awards, held yesterday at the Caudan Arts Centre. These three distinctions recognise and commend the sustainable initiatives led by Rogers' subsidiaries which stood out based on different Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These were focused on four primary sustainability pillars: data reporting, integration within the business strategy, impact assessment, and innovation.
Initiated by the accounting giant PwC, the PwC Sustainability Awards proactively aims at driving corporate reporting behaviours around Sustainability, based on reporting of internationally recognised metrics and KPIs beyond financial information and governance disclosures. This year's edition targeted seven key industries contributing to the Mauritian economy: Hospitality and Tourism, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Wholesale and Retail, Construction and Real Estate, Transportation and Logistics, and Agro-industry. An additional 'Special Award' was bestowed upon the most impactful project.
Of the seven industry awards available, Rogers Group's subsidiaries clinched three. Ascencia claimed the prize for the Construction and Real Estate sector. Velogic stood out in the Transportation and Logistics category, and Rogers Hospitality received honours in the Hospitality and Tourism sector.
This recognition accentuates initiatives driven by these three out of the five segments of the Rogers Group, devoted to the sustainable transformation of its local and global operations, in line with its brand promise of "Meaningful Change."
Present during the ceremony, Mickaël Apaya, Chief Sustainability & Inclusive Development Executive of the Rogers Group, expressed his pride in the relentless efforts of teams across the Group:
We commend PwC's initiative in launching these Awards, a strategic approach that encourages companies to embrace a more profound sustainability vision. We also extend our congratulations to the other participating companies contributing to sustainability in Mauritius. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Rogers Hospitality, Velogic, Ascencia, and the Rogers Aviation team, who also participated in this event. These awards highlight their commitment to generating a positive impact for the Group, society, and the planet.
The accolades conferred by PwC Mauritius stem from a rigorous evaluation process overseen by an independent jury. Projects were assessed against well-established criteria, drawing references from global frameworks like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). This assessment factored in quantitative and qualitative KPIs, ensuring a comprehensive measure of an enterprise's impact in terms of sustainability and governance.
