Congratulations to the inaugural cohort of 18 local agri-entrepreneurs of “Zéro Kilomètre” who have successfully completed a 6-month professional training program in Sustainable Tropical Agriculture.
This program, conducted by Agrïa and financed by Heritage Villas Valriche, aims to teach healthy farming practices while promoting regional entrepreneurship as well as inclusion, empowerment, and job creation. The training was conducted jointly by the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture, FORMA’TERRA from Reunion Island, and the Regional Training Centre (RTC).
The participants from Bel Ombre and the surrounding regions were provided with a total of 114 hours of learning and practical experience on allocated plots of land in Bel Ombre.
At the certificate awarding ceremony, they received their certificates and cheques for the first crops purchased by the Heritage Resorts hotels, also located in Bel Ombre.
“They have acquired valuable skills in sustainable agriculture and are now able to provide healthy and sustainable products while minimising soil and transport pollution. Our short supply chain ensures that the products serve in the hotels are fresh, local, and eco-friendly,”
Thierry Sauzier, Chief Executive Officer of Agrïa.
We are thrilled to witness the success of this first batch of agri-entrepreneurs and wish to thank all the stakeholders of this project for promoting sustainable agriculture in the region.
