Project overview
Since 2019, Rogers Capital and the Rogers Foundation have actively been supporting Forena, a non-governmental organisation that aims to raise awareness about agroforestry and protect Mauritian biodiversity. They do this through an annual tree-planting event, which involves the voluntary participation of Rogers Capital’s staff members. The event has resulted in over 500 endemic trees being planted on the slopes of La Citadelle in Port-Louis.
Forena's reforestation initiatives at La Citadelle and Priest Peak are part of their broader goal to increase the number of trees in Port Louis and reduce the surrounding temperature by 2°C by 2030.
Our strategy
The tree planting initiative is a part of the Rogers Group's broader sustainability strategy. It supports the Group's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 as part of its climate agenda. Moreover, it aligns with the biodiversity pillar of Business Mauritius' SigneNatir pact to which the Rogers Group is a signatory, and which promotes the planting of endemic trees and the protection of local terrestrial species.
This initiative also creates meaningful change within the company culture by creating awareness and encouraging employees to participate in this effort.
Tracking progress
Since 2019, Rogers Capital and the Rogers Foundation have been providing support to the NGO Forena. This collaboration has resulted in the planting of more than 500 endemic trees along the beautiful slopes of La Citadelle in Port-Louis.
The initiative has also brought together a total of 161 participants from various teams within Rogers Capital, all united in their efforts towards a common goal.
